LG's webOS works exactly like a Samsung in this respect: no Android apps, so you use one of the store apps below plus the maker's website. Each asks a small one-off activation fee — theirs, not ours.
1. Install the app
Press the Home button (the house on the Magic Remote) → LG Content Store → Search → install one of:
- IBO Player / IBO Pro Player — our first choice
- Net IPTV
- Flix IPTV
- Smart STB — if you prefer a MAG-style portal, follow the MAG guide
2. Note the MAC address and device key
Open the app. The first screen shows a MAC address and a Device key. Photograph it — going back to that screen later means resetting the app.
3. Register the playlist on the maker's website
- On your phone, open the website the app shows (IBO Player:
iboplayer.com). - Enter the MAC address and device key.
- Add the playlist:
- Name:
Canalus - URL: your playlist link
- EPG (if the field exists): your TV guide link
- Save, pay the activation fee if asked, then close and reopen the app on the TV.
4. LG-specific things that catch people out
- The Magic Remote pointer makes typing worse, not better. Press the wheel to switch to the on-screen keyboard's arrow mode, or pair a USB keyboard for two minutes.
- Turn off "Quick Start+" (Settings → General → Quick Start+) if the app shows an old, cached channel list after you change something. It keeps the app in memory across a power-off.
- Do not use the TV's built-in browser to open the playlist link. It will download a file that the TV cannot play — the playlist has to go through the app.
It still does not work
- "Wrong username or password" — the details are case-sensitive and there is no space at the end. Use the copy button above instead of typing them. Full checklist
- "Maximum connections reached" — someone else is watching. How to fix it
- The picture freezes — start here
- Channels are missing — start here
If none of that helps, run the troubleshooter in your account. It checks your actual subscription first, which is faster than describing the problem to us.
