A MAG box does not use a username and password. It identifies itself by its MAC address, which we register on our side — so the first step is always to send us that address.
The same applies to the Smart STB app on Samsung and LG televisions: it pretends to be a MAG box, and is set up exactly like this.
1. Find your MAC address
- On a MAG box: Settings → System Settings → About (or the sticker on the underside of the box). It looks like
00:1A:79:12:34:56. - In Smart STB: it is shown on the app's first screen.
2. Send it to us
Open your account → Apps & activation → add the MAC address there, or reply in your support conversation with it. We register the address against your subscription. This is a manual step on our side and is normally done within a few hours.
You will receive a message as soon as the box is registered. Do not change anything on the box before then — a portal that has not been registered yet shows an error, and it is not a fault.
3. Enter the portal address
Once we confirm registration:
- Settings → System Settings → Servers → Portals.
- Portal 1 name:
Canalus - Portal 1 URL: your portal address
- Press OK, then Settings → System Settings → Restart Portal.
The box reboots into the channel list.
4. If the portal shows an error
- Check that the MAC address you sent us is the one on the box you are using. A household with two boxes sends the wrong one surprisingly often.
- Confirm the URL ends with a slash:
…/c/— MAG boxes are strict about this. - Settings → System Settings → Network → make sure the box has an IP address. No network means the portal cannot load, and the error looks identical.
- Try switching the box's video mode to 720p if the picture is black but the sound works.
It still does not work
- "Wrong username or password" — the details are case-sensitive and there is no space at the end. Use the copy button above instead of typing them. Full checklist
- "Maximum connections reached" — someone else is watching. How to fix it
- The picture freezes — start here
- Channels are missing — start here
If none of that helps, run the troubleshooter in your account. It checks your actual subscription first, which is faster than describing the problem to us.
