Player app activations

Some smart-TV player apps are free to install and then ask for a one-off payment before they will play anything. This is where that payment is made. Choose your app, send us the address it shows on screen, and we register your television with the people who wrote it.

What an activation is

Apps like IBO Player or Set IPTV are players and nothing more: they hold your channel list, draw the programme guide and play the streams. The developer gives you a few free days, then locks the app until your device is registered with them. That registration is the activation. It is tied to one television through its MAC address, so it survives reinstalling the app, resetting the set or changing provider.

Who needs one

You need one if your Samsung, LG or Android TV shows a trial countdown, a “device not activated” message, or a start screen printing a MAC address and a device key. You do not need one to watch on a Fire Stick, a phone, a computer or a MAG box — the apps for those are free, and our help centre has a setup guide for each of them.

Apps we activate

Most of these are the same activation underneath, published under different names for Samsung, LG and Android TV. If the app on your screen is in this list, we can unlock it.

How it works

  1. 01

Open the page for the app your television is showing you.

  2. 02

Open that app on the TV and write down the MAC address and device key on its start screen.

  3. 03

Pay for the activation and send us those two lines.

  4. 04

We register the device with the app maker. Restart the app and the trial message is gone.
